Sky Studios Elstree`s design includes 12 flexible soundstages that can be merged and divided together to provide flexibility and scalability for productions of all sizes. This means that larger soundstages can now cover 60,000 square feet or be reduced to smaller, separate studios. This means that the largest on-site soundstages can be scaled up to 60,000 square feet or scaled down to much smaller separate studios if needed, making Sky Studios and NBCUniversal COVID-19 future-ready at the same time. On-site production facilities and digital suites will also be set up to facilitate remote work. Cécile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios, said: “Sky Studios Elstree is a significant investment in the UK creative industry and represents the commitment of Sky, NBCUniversal and Comcast to produce world-class films and TV shows here in the UK. The new studios will allow us to offer more original content to our clients while supporting the next generation of talent through skills and training. As the world focuses on COP26 and the urgent need to address the climate crisis, we are also proud of our goal of building the world`s most sustainable film and television studio. The new studio space will also host major film productions from Universal Pictures, Focus Features and Working Title, as well as television series from NBCUniversal Content Studios. It will also have the capacity to accommodate productions from third-party producers. Women are more vulnerable to cost-of-living crises, according to a new report Bijle said there will be opportunities for people to see plans and comment on proposals once a formal building request has been submitted. As part of the design process, companies actively explored all sustainability options, with the project to use reduced carbon emissions in construction.

Sky Studios Elstree should be able to generate 20% of its own energy on site through solar energy. No gas or fossil fuels will be used for day-to-day operations, and Sky will also collect rainwater for on-site use. “It will also bring investment, jobs and opportunities to the people of Hertsmere and cement Elstree & Borehamwood`s reputation as `British Hollywood`.” The project is a joint venture between Sky, NBCUniversal and Legal & General. Subject to planning permission, the 32-acre development is expected to open in 2022 and can accommodate the simultaneous production of multiple films and TV shows, each of the 14 soundstages covering more than 20,000 square feet. Once completed, the site will include state-of-the-art production offices, a set workshop, a cinema, and state-of-the-art post-production and digital facilities. Caroline Cooper, CFO of Sky Studios, commented: “Even in challenging economic times, Sky Studios Elstree represents Sky`s continued commitment to the UK`s cultural industries and our ambition to recruit, train and develop the best creative talent of tomorrow. The construction phase of the construction will contribute £230 million to the UK`s GDP over the period 2020-2021. Oliver Dowden, Member of Parliament for Hertsmere, said: “Sky Studios Elstree is a huge investment in our creative industries and helps boost the economy both locally and nationally. In and around Hertsmere, we are creating a home for film and television productions that build on the region`s strong film heritage, and it`s great to see Sky advancing the training and support of the next generation of local talent. Sky Studios will not allow single-use plastics in Sky`s operations and has planned how the cast and crew will use the studio on a daily basis, including green spaces and landscaping on site. We are grateful to Secretary of State, Oliver Dowden MP, Cllr.

Morris Bright MBE and Hertsmere Borough Council for supporting the project, providing helpful advice and feedback to ensure the project continues to boost the local economy and celebrates the best of British and international creativity. “This program would provide significant employment opportunities for the region and bring Elstree firmly to the world stage while enhancing our local film tourism.” Brollywood: The booming British television and film industry.
